Creativity – a method of communication that can, at times, far exceed just simple word of mouth. It can open our minds, hearts, and souls, bringing us closer to who we are on individual and societal level. It can be scary to be so vulnerable, so open to what can and might be built by your own hands or by those you don’t know. It’s quite a step of strength and courage to allow the innermost parts of who you are to be revealed in a light that is not always all your own, there for the world to see and interpret and define.
Creativity can close as many doors as it can blow open simply because people are always afraid of what they don’t know. And who among us truly knows the inner most workings of the soul?
With this in mind, how important is creativity to us as humans and as communities? Some would argue that creativity, especially in the young, is not as important as the basics of arithmetic and spelling, but ProjectART UBU and those among us would strongly disagree. Creativity is a foundation stone by which many a civilization has been built, their stories of triumph and failure depicted on canvas or sculpture, in words or song, even in architecture.
It holds a vein throughout all of history for every nation on this earth, and to diminish that in favor of what we think will push someone towards the success of “money” or of what we deem as “stability” is to remove an aspect of humanity.
The creative mind and art have been with us for as long as we’ve been “us”. It breeds in our souls and flourishes in our minds, reaching out to others as soon as we open that door – telling the world that we have a voice and a truth that only we can tell.
Allowing this to shape and mold the young and old is not any less important than learning to read or write or do algebra. It is vital to move forward as a society, and all the more so in the wake of the political movements that are shaking our communities to the core.

That’s why we are here, working, striving, fighting and building ProjectART UBU and its members. That’s why we want to break down the obstacles and boundaries erected by closed minds and remind the world of that deep connection we all hold. We want creativity to be a necessity again, to be scripted back into the lines and plays of life and instilled in the young, not weeded out. We are searching for as many ways as possible to touch our communities and provide direct dialect and links for creative minds to show us the world as we should see it – through authentic and unfiltered eyes.
ProjectART UBU wants to ride to the forefront of this moment in history and promote those among us that might otherwise never have a chance to make a difference. Whether it’s through social media, meet and greets, art shows, online sales, magazines etc – ProjectART UBU is pushing back. We want creative minds. We want creation and innovation. We want art. We want to take humanity back.
In closing, creativity is more than just an art project from high school or a manuscript covered in dust on a mantel somewhere. It’s part of all of us – and without it, we would be but sheep led to an eventual slaughter in the wake group think and societal normalcy.
